SVB Annual Survey Extended 3 Days

We are so close to meeting the participation goal in the Annual SVB Wine Industry Survey but are still about 10% short of the responses we need to produce good results. We are extending the survey for three more days so we might reach our goal.

The headline slide shows the present relative participation for all regions with over 10 responses. Canada, Virginia and New York are showing good participation this year, and Napa once again is a strong participant. Thank you!! Sonoma has a slightly lower response rate than normal, but by numbers is the second largest region.

All responses at this stage are important, but we could really use a boost from Sonoma, Paso Robles, Washington, Lodi, Texas and Oregon in particular.

  • As always, only survey participants will get detailed benchmarks, the full chart deck, and the complete set of the anonymized detailed results. That information can't be purchased.
  • The gratis deck released to the full industry is used by AVAs to obtain grants, by universities in their entrepreneur and enology courses, by wineries in their strategic planning, and by investors. All of our efforts are done on a gratis basis to help the industry make decisions, but it's a partnership with you.
I seldom get the question anymore, but someone in the comments section this year asked if we use any part of this as a for-profit exercise? The answer is, absolutely no. We've been doing this for the industry for over 20 years now, and we've never taken email contacts to add to marketing lists. We've never sorted the answers to determine who we might call. And we don't charge for any of this work which costs us in the low 6 figures annually.

Please make this a personal goal to participate this week. The choice you make regarding your participation in the survey will have an impact both on your operation and the industry as a whole.
